Maeva Var is a filmmaker from Eastern Europe working primarily within psychological horror. Her work explores the human condition and the complexities of human psychology, focusing on fear, insecurity, self-doubt, jealousy, and the internal conflicts that shape the perception of reality. Rather than relying solely on traditional horror, Maeva is interested in the psychological forces behind unsettling experiences and the ways ordinary emotions can become distorted. Her films combine atmospheric visuals with psychologically driven storytelling to explore the darker sides of the human mind. Her short film Jealousy: Demon’s Whisper explores jealousy, comparison, and self-doubt through the story of an inner voice that gradually distorts the protagonist’s perception of herself and her creative ambitions.
