William James “Bill” Leyden was US Marine Corps Private First Class who was in the famous K Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, US 1st Marine Division (K/3/5). Leyden served with Authors Marines Eugene Sledge & R.V. Burgin. He was wounded twice by explosions, once on during the Battle of Peleliu, and the other during the Battle of Okinawa. After the war Leyden became a pro golfer and was in car sales.
