Jamal El Gouji (born in 2002) grew up in an environment where art was scarcely present. When the opportunity arose, he chose to pursue cinema. In 2022, he began his studies in cinema at Hassan II University of Casablanca, within the National Higher School of Art and Design (ENSAD), where he started shaping his artistic vision and cinematic language. Currently, pursuing a Master’s degree in Cinema and Audiovisual Studies at Mohammed V University in Rabat. His short fiction film Shadows of Silence (2024) was selected for several national and international festivals. He later directed the short documentary 3 Cities Three Films (2026), continuing his exploration of socially engaged storytelling. Alongside his filmmaking practice, he also served as a cinema workshop facilitator at the Oukacha Film Festival in 2024. Jamal’s work explores imagined worlds through the perspective of his generation, creating socially engaged cinema centered on human needs. He believes art is inherently human — as long as humanity exists, art endures.
