Ty Brueilly

An Asheboro, North Carolina native, Tyler (Ty Bru) Brueilly has been professionally active in the international independent music scene (IMA album of the year 2016 at the Lincoln Center, NYC) for over two decades and took a headfirst dive into photography and film in 2015, with his breakout in Hollywood being his 2022 hip hop hybrid film, 'A Night In Charlotte With Sweeney Ty' which premiered at the world famous TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, where he won Best Experimental at the Golden State Film Festival. Since then his works have been shown at The Apollo Theater in Harlem NYC, the Plaza Theatre in Atlanta and many of the world's finest cinemas. A 2005 graduate of Appalachian State University, Bru reached new heights by attaining a total of five degrees, including International Business, Communication, Marketing, Journalism and Management. As an expatriate in Asia for nearly five total years, Bru used that opportunity as a catalyst for his artistic growth, pushing him to the new avenues and outlets he is exploring today. His debut unconventional 50 minute, silent but scored black and white film, 'Shucks' (Best Experimental Short, Best Cinematography & Best Editing awards at the ISA in Los Angeles, Best Film Score & Best Silent Film at the Royal Society Of Television & Motion Picture in Bollywood, Best Horror/Mystery at the Monza Film Festival in Italy and Best Experimental Film in the 8andhalfilm Festival also in Italy) was an attempt at bridging a cultural gap that seems to get wider when spoken language is misunderstood. It was also to bring an abstract symbolistic awareness to the addictions of the world. His follow up, 'Meng Hua Lu' (Best Film Noir Short at ISA in Los Angeles, Winner at the Oaxaca Film Festival for New Industry: Experimental Film Of The Year 2019) was immediately picked up as official selections to dozens of film festivals and screenings around the world which catapulted Brueilly in the independent film circuit, motivating him to focus his talents and efforts into more film making endeavors since then. Now at eleven titles within that lore, Brueilly expanded his 'Shucks' Cinematic World with '7eventh 7irkle' which had it's Hollywood Premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatres in September 2025, immediately heralded as "a triumph of experimental horror" by Cinedump (Jessie Hobson) and will have it's hometown premiere December 11, 2025 at the historic Sunset Theatre in downtown Asheboro as a highlight of the 20 years of MTTS grand finale. Brueilly is particularly inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy (Inferno) and the raw, unpolished execution of arthouse horror filmmaking, along with artists such as Kanye West, Rob Zombie and Kubrick. Brueilly prides his films with concepts that houses intensely innovative journeys into the contemporary world that includes awareness of the various forms of vices and addictions in hopes to help break the stigma therein.
