Katastrofa 1977
Directed by Julian Józef Antonisz
What catastrophe is about to happen? A series of images unfolds: the ever-present sun, eyes pulsing to unsettling music, crowds waiting for some event, and close-ups of details such as the moving legs of a woman in high heels and a man in loafers. The catastrophe never comes. Instead, the film briefly reveals its own creative medium, showing the filmstrip itself in its opening and closing shots. Repetitive drawings stretch seemingly endlessly across the transparent celluloid, each painstakingly drawn by hand directly onto the film. This gives the few-minute-long work a different sense of time.
