The film's central focus is the 1990s, a turning point for the country and a pivotal moment in Medvedev's career. Separate chapters are devoted to VGIK and the Vyborg Film Festival, the film's subject's beloved creative outlets. The film draws on the recollections of colleagues, friends, and students, who speak with sincere warmth and gratitude about the master's role in their lives and the life of Russian cinema.
