Mimi and Me

A heartwarming mother-daughter story about the difficult climb up the social ladder, based on the autobiography of lawyer and journalist Iris Sayram.

Growing up in Cologne in the 1980s, Iris hopes to study law one day. While her father, Mustafa, wallows in failed dreams and a gambling addiction, her mother, Mimi, struggles to keep the family afloat by working as a cleaning lady and a prostitute. Even after Mimi contracts AIDS, she continues to support her daughter’s plans.
