L'Aéroplane de Fouinard 1910
Directed by Alfred Machin
Fouinard, a poor devil looking for a quick fix, steals a large paper windmill from a toy shop window. It was his first theft. Pursued, our vagabond leaps over a bicycle, collides with two porters, and grabs their cardboard boxes. Thus transformed into an airplane, the paper windmill serving as a propeller, the new aviator takes to the air, making his second flight. Hunted relentlessly, Fouinard smiles disdainfully at the hunter the police have ordered to bring him down. The volleys of gunfire don't frighten him either, and the cannonballs bring him a sweet joy. Alas! A child's pistol shatters his serenity. Struck in the eye, he falls to a startling crash and becomes the prey of a vociferous crowd.
